Covet (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series #1) by Felicity E. Heaton

So, I was a bit surprised by this book. I didn’t pay close enough attention and wound up reading a book much steamier than I had planned on. So this story features the vampire, Javier, who desires a human bound to another vampire, Lillah. Apparently, in this world, when a human is bound to a vampire, no other vampire may even touch the human, let alone bite them, without causing the human extreme pain and bringing a death sentence down on the offending vampire’s head. These vampires are very big on honor, as the offending vampire is not allowed to even defend themselves if they violate this law. This story starts with Javier clearly desiring Lillah. He’s tried for two years to resist her and has finally reached his breaking point. Little does he know that the feeling is mutual.

Lillah is the rare breed of human bonded to a vampire that actually hates him. The bonding is supposed to put the vampire master on a pedestal of sorts, so that the human actually adores them. Lillah is a forced victim and despises her master. And she desires Javier.

So, the two decide to say screw the rules and go for it. There’s no pain for Lillah, which was strange to them, but they must contend with the laws of vampire kind.

I found this to be a very interesting read. Certain scenes sprang up a bit unexpected for me, due to my own inability to pay attention and I blushed rather frequently. The language was a bit more lewd than I expected. Most female authors tend to use more colorful words that clearly convey the part they are referring to but are not used in everyday slang. I was caught off guard with the wording, but I don’t feel that it detracted from the story at all.
